Biography
Dr. Ryan earned both a doctorate of medicine (M.D.) and master
in public health (M.P.H.) degree from the University of Connecticut
in 2001. He completed his postdoctoral training at Harvard's
Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, including a
chief residency and cardiology fellowship. Dr. Ryan is a general
cardiologist with experience in treating coronary artery
disease, heart failure, and valvular heart disease. Dr. Ryan
also has special expertise in cardiac imaging procedures
including echocardiography, cardiac computed tomography (CT),
and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Dr. Ryan is co-director
of the UConn
Heart Failure Center.
He has a special interest in heart failure quality and outcomes,
and reducing heart failure readmissions. Dr. Ryan is the
physician leader of the John Dempsey Hospital initiative to
improve the quality of care for heart failure patients and lower
the rate of heart failure readmissions. He has given talks and
interviews throughout the region on community-based care of
heart failure patients. Dr. Ryan can be reached at
