Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)

The prevalence of hypertension increases progressively with age in both men and women, with nearly half of those between the ages of 60 and 69 suffering from this condition. For this condition, it is critical to detect and start treatment at an early stage. Though the onset of hypertension is silent – virtually without any symptoms – the consequences of untreated high blood pressure are very serious, including the development of coronary artery disease, heart failure and stroke.

At the UConn Health Center, a team of experts, composed of hypertension specialists and cardiologists, offer timely diagnosis and advanced treatments for this condition. The team also provides care for those who have other forms of heart disease that coexist with hypertension.
