The Pat and Jim Calhoun Cardiology Center has earned Aetna Life Insurance Company’s Aexcel® designation for specialists. Aexcel is a title for specialty doctors who:

• Are part of the Aetna network of health care providers
• Have met certain industry-accepted practices for clinical performance
• Have met Aetna’s efficiency standards

In Aetna’s evaluation process, several steps are completed resulting in a performance network that includes specialists in 12 Aexcel specialty categories. When Aetna members visit an Aexcel doctor, they may save out-of-pocket costs and may not need referrals. The Aexcel designation period is January 1, 2010 to January 1, 2012.
